Northern Rock (is going to help me) (2007)
On 13th September 2007, Northern Rock, a British Bank experienced a credit crisis and asked the Bank of England for emergency funds. Next day their branches had massive queues as many customers panicked and withdrew their funds. The Govt stepped in and promised that no one would lose any money.
With apologies to XTC whose song Sgt Rock (is going to help me) has been sequestrated, given a good beating and reworked as this:
I'm investing, bit of a stash
need assisting, depositing cash
saw the experts, coated with honey
they couldn't refuse taking my money
If I could only be good like them
then I could have
my own, small, interest earning deposit scheme

Sometimes deposits don't go as planned
some banks, can make themselves so cold
